Q: What are the basic requirements to become a pilot?
A: You must be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English Language
You must be able to obtain at least a Third class FAA medical certificate
You must be 16 years old to obtain your student pilot license
You must to be 17 years old to obtain your private pilot license
Your flying time must total at least 40 hours
10 hours of the 40 hours must be solo(alone) flight time
5 hours of the 10 solo must be cross-country (flying from one airport to another)
You must pass the FAA Private Pilot written exam
You must pass the Private Pilot Oral and Practical Exam
Q: How do I obtain my Third Class Medical Certificate?
A: We will provide you a list of physicians who serve as flight medical examiners. Your medical certificate will also serve as your student pilot license.
Q: How soon until I start to actually fly the plane?
A: Immediately. Your first lesson will include your controlling the airplane and discovering the joy of flying.
Q: How long will it take to earn my pilot's certificate?
A: Training time is dependent upon you - your time, budget and desire to learn are the key determinants of your success. Some students become licensed pilots in the matter of a few months. Others take more time, and can take a year or more if they desire.
Q: What is the cost of becoming a pilot?
A: Flight time and professional instruction are not cheap, but is affordable to most people. There may even be an opportunity to finance your training time. We can help you work out a budget and training schedule to fit your needs.
